SAT5000 (Automated Archiving Solution) The SAT5000 is a custom-designed archiving system for haematology departments in mid-to-large-sized laboratories. Designed to reduce lost archived samples and labor costs, the SAT5000 takes processed tubes out of racks and sorts them into cabinet drawers in a lying position. The location of each sample is recorded within the system and known at all times. Once full, the cabinet is removed to a cold storage room and an empty one is connected. The SAT5000 makes retrieval of archived tubes easy since each tube is associated with a known location within the cabinet drawers. When a sample is needed for further testing, the user enters the sampe ID and the tube is deposited to a release compartment. If the sample has already been removed to the storage room, the system provides the exact location of the tube for quick retrieval. The next generation of this archiving system, the SAT5000+ is equipped with a rack filling unit and connects directly to the Laboratory Information System (LIS). If the LIS sends a message to the SAT5000+ that a sample is needed for further testing, the tube is removed and placed into an external rack for easy processing. The is just one example of the additional potential of the SAT5000 and the research and design potential of m•u•t. |
Advantages of using the SAT5000 Reduction of error Manual archiving of samples is a long, tedious process that inevitably results in fatigue and human error. Automating this post-analytical process ensures that the location of archived tubes is known at all times and is easily retrievable for further testing and improves the laboratory's accuracy and efficiency. Cost-effective solution Since the location of the tube is registered within the system to allow for automatic retrieval or to provide the exact location of the tube for manual retrieval, use of the SAT5000 greatly reduces investigation time and lost or misplaced samples. This automated process saves the laboratory time and money since it reduces labor costs and eliminates the costs associated with having a sample redrawn. |
